How shall I break my Gladiolus on his side?

My garden is now beginning to bloom, and the stalks of the Gladiolus are very large, but they continue to bend down after a shower has fallen upon them. as I was considering some decorative plant stands on abodelook whether I could lean on them to support them, or whether I must stake them? I like the stature that they bring, however when not standing straight they appear messy.
