What Can New Follows Tell You?

Last weekend I was helping a friend organize several social media accounts that had been inactive for a while, as we looked through newer connections and recently followed profiles, it became obvious how much a person's online habits can shift over time, some accounts reflected new hobbies, others pointed to professional interests, and a few seemed to be followed simply out of curiosity, It sparked an interesting conversation about whether recent follows actually reveal meaningful patterns or if most people click the follow button without much thought, I'm curious how others see it, do you think newly followed accounts provide a useful glimpse into someone's current interests, or are they usually too random to say much about a person at all?
