Strange phone calls pretending to be from HMRC about unexpected tax refunds – what's the script they've been using lately?

Just had a call a couple weeks back, – bloke claimed I was due a few hundred quid back from overpaid tax last year. Went on about how HMRC had reviewed my records and it was all sorted, just needed my sort code and account number to deposit it straight away. Felt off because why would they ring out of nowhere? These calls are classic voice phishing tricks, really – they pretend to be from official places to trick you into handing over info. I've learnt the hard way to never trust unsolicited calls like that. From my point of view in order to understand What Is Vishing? How to Protect Yourself one should know methods of their work asnd techniques like ID Spoofing or pretexting. I recommend to search everything aligned to those things. Basically, if it's unexpected and they're after your details, bin it off.
