Hublot Big Bang MECA-10

Hublot Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle hits Fifth Avenue Concrete – once the grey, rough backbone of parking lots and overpasses – has become the darling of high-end design. It’s been honed, sculpted and favoured by creatives who draw beauty from its rugged strength and raw texture. Hublot has always been unconventional, transforming this humble material into a bold new horological symbol. Introducing the Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle, a watch that exudes urbanity like a badge of honor and exudes the energy of New York.

Crafted in matte concrete, this 44mm watch has an industrial aesthetic and Hublot’s signature refined craftsmanship. Polished and micro-blasted titanium screws secure the case, while a black rubber-covered crown adds a stylish contrast. At 15.3mm thick and water-resistant to 50 meters, the case feels as heavy as the city it was inspired by.

This isn’t Hublot’s first encounter with concrete (2016 and 2020’s “Concrete Jungle” collections were great), but this time? It’s different. It marks the opening of Hublot’s new Fifth Avenue flagship, which is also clad in concrete, bringing the material’s innovative concept to life on the wrist. It’s a design narrative all around.

There’s more to the MECA-10 than meets the eye. The skeletonized gears of Hublot’s in-house HUB1201 manual-winding movement are as stunning as a city skyline. Two barrels give the watch a 10-day power reserve, and a rack-and-pinion power-reserve indicator clearly displays the remaining charge, highlighted in red.

It’s architectural and complex. It’s made up of 223 individual parts that work in harmony with one another. Everything from the perforated metal strips to the ratchets is assembled on a steel frame like scaffolding, making the entire movement a Brutalist ballet of engineering.

To celebrate its new concrete office building on Fifth Avenue, Hublot pulled out all the stops. The Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle features a collector's edition Hublot green case with an artistic graphic of the New York City skyline, a nod to the urban muse that made it all happen.

And the strap? Two options, both effortlessly cool. One in grey fabric with Velcro for street style, the other in black lined rubber for a flexible, everyday look. Thanks to the "one-click" system, the strap can be swapped in seconds, whether you're browsing a gallery downtown or enjoying a cocktail on a rooftop uptown.

Rather than being understated, the Big Bang MECA-10 Concrete Jungle is a celebration of contrasts - raw concrete and craftsmanship, industrial and elegant mechanics. It blends in without trying. This watch is designed to stand out, just like the city it pays homage to.

Once again, Hublot proves that haute horlogerie can be bold, tactile and modern. For those who find beauty in imperfection and poetry in the streets, the Concrete Jungle is more than just a watch, it’s a wearable ode to the heartbeat of New York City.
