Modern Lighting Ideas: Square Downlights, Surface Mounted Lights & Track Lighting

Hi all! I recently revamped the lighting in my flat and wanted to share some ideas that worked well—especially if you’re aiming for a modern, clean look.

I installed square downlights in the hallway and study area. These recessed lights are minimalist but provide excellent focused lighting, perfect for tasks or creating cozy reading corners. The square shape adds a subtle geometric touch that’s different from the usual round designs.

For rooms with lower ceilings, I went with surface mounted ceiling lights. These fixtures sit flush against the ceiling, so they don’t take up much vertical space but still offer bright and even illumination. Great for bedrooms and kitchens where you want something unobtrusive yet stylish.

In my living room, I opted for track lighting living room to highlight different zones—like the TV area and reading nook. Track lighting is super flexible, letting me adjust and direct light exactly where I need it. It also adds a modern industrial vibe that I really like.
